Marilyn Joan (Tammen) Morgan, of Clarion, rested from her earthly journey on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, after a brave and inspirational fight against cancer.

Marilyn was born to John and Nora (Osterthun) Tammen on the family farm outside of Chatsworth, Iowa. She attended Chatsworth and Craig and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1954. Marilyn continued her education at Wartburg College in general business.

She was employed with New York Life Insurance in Sioux City.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Lyle M. Morgan of Sioux City, May 11, 1958, in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Craig.

The couple resided in Sioux City where she was a wife, homemaker and mother to their two daughters, Kollene and Loralie.

The family moved to Clarion, in 1970 where she made a warm and loving home while working side by side with Lyle as an abstractor at Wright County Land and Title Company.

Marilyn was dedicated to an active life with membership at First Lutheran Church in Clarion, enjoying celebrations with family and friends, supporting their children's activities, bowling and 4-H participation.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Lyle; daughters, Kollene Steiner, of New Providence, and Loralie (Jack) Ashton of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight cherished grandchildren; five precious great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Tammen of Farmer City, Ill.; sister, Janice (Bill) Renken of Brunsville; sister, Ardis Rozell of Clarion; brother, Rodney (Rhonda) Tammen of Le Mars; beloved nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces and many wonderful cousins and friends.

Marilyn was greeted into her Heavenly home by many loved ones including her parents John and Nora Tammen; a brother, Virgil Tammen; a son-in-law, Lyle Steiner; a baby grandson. Ryan Steiner; and nephews Kevin and Keith Renken.

In celebration of Marilyn's life, a prayer/memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main St. in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating. Marilyn will be taken to her home church for funeral and burial services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig, when snow conditions allow for burial.
