Edith Johnson, 82 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2017 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home of Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the funeral home . Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill, Iowa. Edith May Schultz was born on October 2, 1934 to Otto and Maggie (Blackmore) Schultz near Merrill, Iowa. She grew up in Hinton, Iowa and attended school in Merrill. Edith was united in marriage to Harvey Duane Johnson in 1953 and they later divorced. Edith and Harvey moved to Janesville, Wisconsin for a few years, and later Edith and their children moved back to Merrill. Edith began working at the Floyd Valley Hospital as a CNA where she worked for 10 years. She moved to Le Mars in 1974 and later began working at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City where she worked for 27 years. During her retirement years she obeyed the Gospel and was immersed into Christ. Edith worshiped at Sioux Center Church of Christ.
Edith enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. Her favorite time was spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and twin sister, Ethel.
Edith is survived by her three children: Pat (Barry) Jurgenson of Struble, Iowa, Alvin Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Karen Hutton of Des Moines, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; twin sister, Ethel Renken of Le Mars; sister in law, Alma Morrison of South Beloit, Illinois; Tiffany M. Justus of Des Moines, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Johnson; granddaughter, Jill Jurgenson; great grandson, Landon James Miller; daughter in law, Lori Johnson; son in law, Doug Hutton; and brother in law, Marvin Renken.
