Dan R. Sanders

AKRON, Iowa - Dan R. Sanders, 62, of Akron died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, with the Rev. Marion Sindt officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post 186 of Akron and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 of Elk Point, S.D. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mr. Sanders was born Sept. 16, 1935, in Richland, N.C., the son of Ira Dan and Sara Elizabeth (Rouse) Sanders. He married Shirley Malcom on Feb. 15, 1960, in Orange, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from May 1954 to June 1974. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was employed as a appliance repairman with Williams Appliance for 20 years.

He was a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post 186, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 and was active in bowling.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Robert and Michelle of Akron, W.C. and Sarah of Mankato, Minn. and Bryan and Susan of Orange City, Iowa; six grandchildren; three brothers, Robert and Caryle, both of Jacksonville, N.C. and Wilbur of Raleigh, N.C.
