LE MARS, Iowa - Wayne Edward Kenowith, 75, of Le Mars died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Pete Petersen of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Craig, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Kenowith was born May 9, 1924, near Ireton, Iowa, the son of John and Anna (Jahde) Kenowith. He graduated from country school in Sioux County, Iowa, then farmed with his parents.
He married Helen Reich on Sept. 20, 1944, in Le Mars. The couple farmed in Plymouth County until retiring in 1988 and moved into Le Mars.
He was a member of Plymouth County Farm Bureau, Le Mars Eagle's Club and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed flowers and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Orville and Diane of Sioux City and Rod and Deb of Le Mars; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Ron Popken of Akron, Iowa, and Gloria and Jack Lockwood of Port Edwards, Wis.; six grandchildren, Robin, Jonathan and Daniel Kenowith, Todd and Matthew Popken and Michael Lockwood; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lila Rohlfs; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Dirks.
