He died accidently Sunday (Feb. 26, 1984) his 26th birthday at his home, 3020 E. Bjou.

Dr. David Bowersman, El Paso County coroner, said death was due to the reaction of a prescription drug which DeYoung had taken for a respiratory ailment causing failure of the system.

He was born Feb. 26, 1958, in Le Mars to Roger G. DeYoung, Sr. and Dorothy Reich DeYoung. He was employed as a cement finisher for Ideal Concrete at Colorado Springs, where he had resided since 1981. Prior to the he lived in Le Mars and had attended Le Mars Community High School.

Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Dorothy DeYoung; a brother, Randall DeYoung; and three sisters, Mrs. Tim (Vicki) Bainbridge, Mrs. Jon (Candice Wagner and Debbie DeYoung, all of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his father who died Oct. 18, 1976.
