Marjorie Parks
REMSEN, Iowa - Marjorie Parks, 81, of Remsen died Thursday, March 25, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Le Mars, Iowa, with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mrs. Parks was born March 10, 1918, in Le Mars to Leo and Nona (Gooch) Hughes. She graduated from Union Consolidated School in Union Township. She married Dean Parks at Elk Point, S.D. She worked as a bookkeeper and helped her husband operate Parks and Anthony Trucking and Shelling in Union Township from the late 1940s to 1965. The family moved to Remsen in 1965 and became co-owners of the Remsen Roller Mill. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, shopping and traveling. She belonged to several card and birthday clubs.
She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Le Mars, where she was also a member of the Peace Circle. She belonged to the Happy Siesta Nursing Home Auxiliary in Remsen.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters and their husbands, Kay and Jerry Augustine and Pat and Dave Wingert, all of Remsen; a son and his wife, Tom and Carol Parks of Spencer, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Diane Harvison, Jim and Ken Augustine, Mary Westhoff, Beth Schulte, Nancy Gion, Shana Wingert, Laura Grove, Krista and Carey Parks; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jim and Ken Augustine, Brian Harvison, Dave Gion, Greg Schulte, Kevin Westhoff, Michael Grove, Chad Lake and Colt Berger.
