LE MARS, Iowa - George Royal Mount, 82, of Le Mars died Friday, March 28, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery at Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mr. Mount was born July 25, 1914, in Beresford, S.D., the son of John and Hazel (Sargent) Mount. He was raised and educated in Sioux City, graduating from Central High School. He attended the Des Moines School of Pharmacy.
He married Dorothy Wallace on Sept. 4, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple moved to Le Mars in 1941 and purchased Spotts and Post Pharmacy. He operated the pharmacy with Stanley Post until 1948, it then became Mount Drug. He retired in 1980. She died March 15, 1986.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was associated with the Masonic Organization Giblem Lodge 322 of Le Mars. He had been active with the Le Mars School Board, the Hospital Board and the Park Board.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Kroepel of Le Mars; a son and his wife, John and Lorna of Kaneohe, Hawaii; four grandchidlren, Katy Wojciechowski, Tom Kroepel, Sterling and Megan Mount; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine; and a brother, Verne.
