Walter Muecke, 79, dead after fall from ladder

Walter F. F. Muecke. 79. lifelong Hinton area farmer, died Thursday (June 20, 1974) at Sioux City St. Luke's hospital. He had suffered injuries in a fall from a ladder at his home Tuesday afternoon and was taken to the Sioux City hospital by the Hinton rescue unit. He reportedly had been working on the eaves troughs at his home when he fell backwards from the ladder striking his head on the cement below.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran church, Lincoln township, rural Hinton, with Rev. Donald Wuertz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. Le Mars. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.

Walter Muecke was born Nov. 25. 1894. at Hinton, the son of the late William and Anna (Hildebrand) Muecke. He and Clara Ludwig were married Dec. 18.1917 at Trinity Lutheran church. Mr. Muecke was a world war 2 veteran and a member of Trinity Lutheran church and Casper Post 477 of the American Legion at Hinton. He was active in community affairs.

Survivors are his wife Clara of rural Hinton; two daughters. Mrs. Harold (Anna Mae) Ladenthin of Marcus and Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Kramer of LaHabra. Calif.; a son. William of Liberal, Kan. Also 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister. Lily Flicek of Sioux City and two brothers. W. Carl Muecke of Le Mars and Frank Muecke of Moose Lake, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
