John MaComb, 45, of Pierre, South Dakota passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Pierre.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with Reverend Gary Landsness of St. John''s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations with the family present will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitations will continue Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Cory MaComb, Scott MaComb, Bob Singer, Lyle Pater, Sam Campbell, and Jeremy Singer.

John Allen MaComb was born January 23, 1966, to Ned and Wanda (Lang) MaComb in Le Mars, Iowa. John attended and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1984. John was united in marriage to Nichole Pater on September 25, 1993 in Worthington, Minnesota. John worked in the grocery industry for several years and for the last 5 years worked as a driver for Spee-Dee Delivery in Pierre. He enjoyed playing x-box with his son, racing remote control cars, screaming (or crying) during the Minnesota Vikings games, and recently started trying to acquire a green thumb. John was a loving father of three who enjoyed many things in life. The sun rose and set on his children and he could be counted on to provide quick-witted one liners to provide hours of entertainment to family and friends. Although he was taken far too early, his family knew that his life was made whole, simply by having them in it. His love for animals has been passed down to his children and his three dogs are greatly benefiting from years of his devoted care and attention.

John is survived by his wife, Nichole (Pater) MaComb; daughters, Tristin Wiepen and Alexis MaComb; son, Tyler MaComb; parents, Ned and Wanda (Lang) MaComb of Le Mars; sister, Tammy (Bob) Singer of Le Mars; brothers Scott (Jean) MaComb of Sioux City and Cory (Angela) MaComb of Le Mars; aunts and uncles: Dick Lang, Shirley Reilly, LeeAnn Lang and JoAnn Petry all of Le Mars; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Karla Pater of Worthington, MN; a sister-in-law, Joni and Chris Belair of Omaha; a brother-in-law, Lyle and Paula Pater of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews.
