Fremont Muecke was Hinton world traveler
Fremont F. Muecke, 77, prominent Hinton farmer and landowner, died Friday at his farm home near Hinton after a long illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Plymouth county and the Hinton vicinity. In recent years he spent the winters in Texas.
Mr. Muecke had extensive land holdings in Plymouth county and in the Rio Grande valley near Pharr, Tex.
MR. MUECKE WAS born Feb. 24, 1889, in Plymouth county His marriage to Elsie Junck took place May 23, 1918, at Trinity Lutheran church near Hinton. His parents were the late Julius and Marie (Ideker) Muecke.
A world traveler, Mr. Muecke made two trips around the world. He traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Africa, South America, the West Indies, India and the Holy Land and made several trips to Alaska.
He was a director of the Hinton Farmers Co-op lumber and elevator from 1937 to 1954. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War 1. He was active in farm and feeding activities in Plymouth county and surrounding areas.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran church, Lincoln township Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home in Le Mars. Rev. David Oswald will officiate at last rites.
Survivors are his wife, Elsie, rural Hinton; two sisters, Mrs. August (Bertha) Riediger of LeMars and Mrs. Henry (Caroline) Howe of rural Hinton; a brother, Harvey Muecke, rural Hinton, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Harry Junck, Alvin Howe, Mervin Howe, Dale Riediger, Ronald Junck, Curtis Kempe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Martin and Edmund Muecke.
