Dennis Dreckman, 71, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Deacon Paul Gengler from All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars will officiate. Burial with military honors conducted by the Oleson - Halweg Post 125 of Merrill will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2015, with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m., all at Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday, at the funeral home.

Dennis Michael Dreckman was born December 13, 1943 in Le Mars, the son of Conrad Joseph and Dorothy Elizabeth (Ruedy) Dreckman. He enlisted in the United States Navy on September 26, 1961. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on December 12, 1964. He was united in marriage to Diane Thompson on October 14, 1972 in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Early on they made their home in Sioux City where Dennis worked for several manufacturing businesses in the area before moving to Le Mars. In March of 1982, Dennis started with Wells Dairy and retired after 23 years of service in January of 2005. Dennis was a member of the Oleson-Halweg American Legion Post 125 in Merrill. In his earlier years, he enjoyed tractor pulling and later in life Dennis enjoyed woodworking, gardening, baking, word puzzles and riding bikes. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a son, Wesley Pottorff of Le Mars; a daughter, Angie (Bill) Schilmoeller of Le Mars and their children: Kelsey Schilmoeller, her fiancé Scott Durr and their son Cooper, Riley Schilmoeller, Kennedy Schilmoeller and Maggie Schilmoeller; a son, Corey (Dana) Dreckman of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and their children: Maddie Dreckman, Giana Dreckman and Annie Dreckman; a sister, Diann (Ken) Kolker of Le Mars; a brother, Jerry (Mary) Dreckman of Salisbury, MD; a brother-in-law, Wade (Betty) Thompson of Le Mars and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Diane in 2005 and a brother in infancy, John Dreckman.
