Mrs. Henry Ideker Nonagenarian Is Taken By Death

Widow of Well Know Plymouth County Landowner

Mrs. Henry Ideker, resident of Plymouth county for sixty-two years, passed away at her home Tuesday afternoon, August 5, at the age of nearly ninety-two years.

Catherine Ideker was born September 18, 1849, in Pontresina, Canton Graubuenden, Switzerland and came to America in 1873 to visit her sister, Mrs. Fred Lauber. She was united in marriage in 1874 to Henry Newman at Lincoln Neb. They moved to LeMars in 1879 where she lived ever since. Her husband, Henry Newman, and three children preceded her in death and also three sisters, Mrs. Marie Kessler, in Switzerland, Mrs. Ursula Karley, of LeMars, and Mrs. Clara Beiner of Chicago.

Mrs. Newman married Henry Ideker, well known landowner in Plymouth county in 1919. He passed away in 1928. Mrs. Ideker was a charter member of St. Paul's Methodist church and was an active worker in the church and its societies and when St. Paul's church was consolidated transferred her membership to the First Methodist church.

Mrs. Ideker lived to be a great, great, grandmother. She was esteemed to all who knew her especially for her kindly consideration for her fellow human beings, she was a devoted wife and mother. When a girl she traveled extensively in Europe and was a linguist, speaking seven different languages, and was unusually gifted with accomplishments and always interested in public and community affairs. She enjoyed excellent eyesight and up to the last enjoyed reading far into the night. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. at the residence, 234 Second Avenue SE, with the Mauer funeral home, in charge, Rev. W. M. Hubbard of the First Methodist Church officiating with and grandsons will be pall bearers.

She is survived by the following stepchildren and children: Harry Ideker, Long Beach, Calif.; Herman Ideker, Mrs. Mary Muecke and Freemont Ideker, of this county, Mrs. E. A. Ideker of LeMars, Mrs. M. Hauswald of Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. E. R. Dennler of Hollywood, Calif.
