MARCUS, Iowa - Ella Marie Stowater, 93, of Marcus died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Marcus, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Earnest and Roethler Funeral Home in Marcus.

Mrs. Stowater was born April 20, 1906, in rural Merrill, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Ideker) Schoenrock. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was raised in the Hinton, Iowa, area and was educated in the Plymouth County School System.

She married J.C. Stowater on June 11, 1930, in rural Hinton. The couple farm near Marcus, Hinton and then near Le Mars, Iowa. They then moved to Cherokee County and farmed near Marcus for many years. He died May 27, 1954. She was a homemaker and had worked at various occupations. She had been a resident of Heartland Care Center for a year and a half.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell of Marcus and Rodney and his wife, Sandra of Cherokee, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Larry Wheeler of Cherokee; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Earl; a sister, Mabel; and a great-grandchild.
