Leonard Schoenrock Spent Lifetime Here
Leonard Schoenrock, 59, died at his home 24 Fifth Avenue, S.W., in this city, Sunday morning at 7 o’clock. Death was due to stroke he suffered early Saturday afternoon.
He was born May 18, 1884, in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Schoenrock. He was baptized December 25, 1884, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, April 3, 1898, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township.
He was married to Bertha Onken, June 23, 1915, at the Schoenrock farm where they made their home.
Owing to his ill health they moved to Le Mars in 1926. After eight years his health being imorved, they moved back to Stanton Township. However, his health failed and in 1941 they returned to Le Mars to make their home.
Mr. Schoenrock was an example of patience, enduring his suffering uncomplainingly. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he attended adult Bible class, and church services regularly as long as his health permitted.
He leaves to mourn his death besides his devoted wife, three brothers and two sisters, Herman of Hawarden, Mrs. Lena Grimjes of Le Mars, and Mrs. Martha Ideker, Henry and Charles of Lincoln Township, and a large number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. L. L. Belk officiating.
Six nephews will act as pallbearers. Mauer’s are in charge of funeral arrangements. Interment will take place in Le Mars city cemetery.
