Lloyd R. Bainbridge

Lloyd Bainbridge, 82, of Kingsley, died on Saturday, January 18, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Pierson United Methodist Church. Rev. John Battem officiated and burial was in the Kingsley Cemetery with te Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dorothy Nafe was the organist at the service and a duet of Robbi Linn and Diana Naim sang “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”.

Serving as active pallbearers were Jim Roepke, Armand Roepke, David Bainbridge, Adair Countryman, Gary Hoppe and Larry McDermott. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Royer, Dar Phillips, Joe Linn, Lloyd McDonald and Daryl Bogenrief.

Mr. Bainbridge was born September 25, 1909, in Union Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa. He was the son of William and Louise (Johnson) Bainbridge. He moved with his family to just north of Kingsley as a child. He helped deliver milk to residents of Kingsley for the family-operated dairy. He graduated from Kingsley High School in 1929 and attended Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls. He married Margaret Lyle on November 14, 1932, at Canton, South Dakota. They farmed in the Kingsley and Pierson areas many years, retiring in the mid-1970’s. They moved to Kingsley in October of 1990. He was an avid sports fan, member of Pierson United Methodist Church and had been advisor of the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the church.

Survivors include his wife Margaret; three sons and one daughter-in-law; Tom and his wife Judy of Ida Grove, Iowa, Lynn of Arlington, Texas, and Kenny of Pierson, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, two brothers; Dewey and Carl, and one sister, Opal McDermott.
