CHRIS F. JENSEN CALLED BY DEATH LAST FRIDAY

Rites Held Monday For An Esteemed Akron Resident

The final summons came to an esteemed and well-known Akron resident, Chris F. Jensen, last Friday at the Hawarden Hospital, after an extended illness at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Mr. Jensen was born February 7, 1880, in Denmark and came to this country in young manhood and farmed most of his life northwest of Akron in Union County, S. D. He married Martha Christensen at Miller, S. D., May 10, 1907, and two daughters and three sons came to bless their union.

His wife preceded him in death in 1946 and he retired and moved to Akron that year. His pleasant personality and friendly ways gained for him many friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Josie Johnson, of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Dorothy Berg, of Hawarden, Iowa; three sons, Clarence and Raymond, of Elko, Nebr., and Edmund, of Alcester; a sister, Mrs. Henry Frerichs, of Akron; 16 great-grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Pastor Harris Hostager, of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Mrs. Norman Nielsen and Mrs. Darwin Klemme sang a duet and Mrs. Glen Gabel was pianist, Casket bearers were Herman Andresen, Fred Popken, Ward Costar, Francis Green, Charles Johnannsen, and Donald Willer. Burial was in the Alcester, S. D. cemetery.
