Meta Hannah Grasz
Meta Hannah Grasz, 87, Le Mars, died Wednesday, July 21, 1993, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at St. John’s Lutheran church in Le Mars. The Rev. Gary Landsness officiated. Burial was in Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Mrs. Grasz was born May 31, 1906, in rural Le Mars, daughter of Gerhard and Meta (Martfeld) Wilken. She married Alfred Grasz Dec. 1, 1923, in Preston Township. The couple farmed in the Brunsville and Craig areas until moving to Le Mars in 1948. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Plymouth County. Mr. Grasz died in 1983.
She was a member of St. Jon’s Lutheran church in Le Mars.
Survivors include five sons and their wives, Lester and Ruth, Larry and Dorothy, Vernon and Pat, all of Le Mars, Orval and Jeanine of Craig, and Norman and Sally of Ireton; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frieda McAninch and Mrs. Gerd (Dena) Jacobs, both of Le Mars; and a sister-in-law, Lucile Wilken of Le Mars.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jack Wilken and Art Wilken, and four sisters, Edna, Margaret, Minnie Gabel, and Katherine Siebens.
