DON PETRY, 43, IS DEAD; SUFFERS HEART ATTACK MONDAY NIGHT
Don Petry 43, LeMars tavern operator, died unexpectedly Monday evening about 9:30 at his home at 301 Cent. Ave. SW after suffering a heart attack.
He became ill at his place of business, The Highway Tap, on Ply Street SW, Mr. Petry died shortly after reaching his home.
A son David Petry and his wife accompanied by Gilbert Cass. had left early Monday evening on a fishing trip to Turtle River Lake Minn. Efforts of the Minnesota Highway Patrol failed to locate David that evening. He was notified of his fathers death Tuesday morning at the resort where the LeMars party was staying. The group is expected to arrive back in LeMars Tuesday night.
Donald Carl Petry was born June 9, 1915, in LeMars. He was a lifelong resident of this community, except for three years spent in California. He was a member of Calvary Evangelical United Brethren church.
His marriage to Margarite Bass took place July 8, 1936 at Elk Point S.D.
His wife survives as do four children, David, Linda, Charles, and Pamela, all of LeMars: his parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Petry of LeMars and Long Beach Calif., four sisters Mrs. Walt (Margy) Luschen, Mrs. Wally (Dorothy) Dunker, Mrs. William (Shirley) Barrett all of Long Beach, Mrs. William (Mary) McDonald of Chicago.
Funeral Services are pending until the arrival time of Mrs. Luschen, Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. McDonald is known. The body was taken to Mauer's Funeral Home.
