OBITUARY—MRS. JOHN RAUSCH
Hazel Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Hall, who were among the early settler in Akron vicinity, was born in Union county, South Dakota, February 22, 1892, and passed away at the hospital in Akron, Iowa, following an operation for appendicitis and complications, July 25, 1929, having been pilgrimage of 37 years, 5 months, and 3 days. On November 2, 1908, she was united in marriage with John Rausch at Sioux City, Iowa, and soon thereafter she and her husband moved to Illinois, where they resided for two years and then returned to Union county, S. D.
Five children came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rausch, and all of them survive, namely: James Forrest, 19; Bernice, 16; Lester, 13; Ralph, 10; Virginia, 5.
Besides the children mentioned, Mrs. Rausch leaves to mourn her untimely departure her husband, John Rausch; five sisters and two brothers, as follows; Mrs. Edith Abeel, Mitchell, S. D.; Mrs. Lula Hanson, Union county, S. D.; Mrs. Alice Fox, Meek, Nebr.; Mrs. Marena Ruble, Winona, Minn.,; Mrs. Ethel Kaczor, Meek, Nebr.; Oscar Hall, Harrisburg, S. D., and Ernest Hall, Worthing, S.D., Mrs. Rausch being the youngest child of this large family.
The deceased was well known in all this section, a she had spent her entire life among the folks here, except the six years the family spent in Illinois.
Mrs. Rausch had been in declining health for the past few years and was a very patient ufferer, though her bodily afflictions bore heavily upon her at times. It was during a revival meeting at the Christian church last winter that Mrs. Rausch was converted, and March 31 she and her husband united with the local Methodist church. She was a regular attendant at Sunday school and the regular worship services and hers was a great and abiding faith.
Religion was uppermost in her mind and she enjoyed talking about the goodness of God, and it was her faith that sustained her in all her sufferings and adversities. During the preparations for the operation she sang a verse of “Jesus, Lover of My Soul,” and a few lines of “Jesus, Take Me Home on High,” and “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder.”
The funeral was conducted at the Methodist church Friday afternoon by the pastor, Wilson Gow, and interment was in Riverside cemetery. The relative and friends who attended the service as a final tribute of esteem and respect completely filled the main auditorium and side room of the church.
