Vernon Dean Kloster was born August 18, 1944, in LeMars, Iowa, the third of seven children born to Niels A. and E. Louise (Albrecht) Kloster. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith as a baby at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Oyens, Iowa, where he confirmed his faith in 1957. He graduated from Remsen-Union High School in Remsen, Iowa, in 1962, where he was involved in sports and band. He attended Westmar College, in LeMars, Iowa.

Vernon loved animals, including his 4H calves, even the bull that pinned him to the side of the barn, all his cattle, horses, and a huge variety of pets from his fish to all his beloved dogs. He also enjoyed working in his garden and taking care of his pond that he built for Momma.

Through the years, Vernon worked for Remsen area farmers, was a manager at Coast to Coast Hardware in Blair, sold and replaced windows for Sears, and managed his own construction company for 17 years. He was very proud of his mechanic and construction work and also took pleasure in his many carpentry projects he did around the home. He loved to spend time with family and friends watching Husker Football. Vern enjoyed his trips to England, visiting his favorite old English Pub and having fish and chips with his brother-n-law Paul Lummis.

Vernon was married to Karen (Wenzel) on June 13, 1964, and they were blessed with four children. On January 31, 1988, Vernon married Sonja Brunning, and they enjoyed many good times with her four children and their families.

Vernon passed away September 12, 2013, in his home after his battle with cancer, at the age of 69 years, 25 days.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Timothy, brother Terry; He is survived by his loving wife, Sonja; Children - Floyd (Julie) Brunning, Tonja (Gregg) Johnsen, Bridget (Trent) Ragsdell, Mark Brunning, Tom (Michelle) Kloster, Tammy (Jason) Stawniak, Theresa Lindgren (Pat Ratigan); 15 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren; Sisters, Ellen (Bill) Bohlken, Kathy (Ken) Palm, Darlene Yovonie; Brothers, Darwin (Natalie), Vaugn (Carolyn); Many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. He will be missed by all.
