Bruce Nanninga, 62, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa following a courageous battle against cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Reverend Kevin Richter will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.

Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:00 p.m., and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.

The family prefers memorials to the Le Mars Sportsman’s Club and/or the Gehlen Catholic Booster Club.

Bruce Alan Nanninga was born May 24, 1953 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Irene (Durr) Nanninga. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1972.

Bruce was united in marriage to Connie Sitzmann on April 12, 1975. To this union, three children were born: Matthew, Katie, and Nick. Their marriage later dissolved in 2010.

Bruce spent his entire career in the sales industry, primarily automotive sales. He retired earlier this year due to his health.

He was a member of All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bruce was active with the Le Mars Sportsman’s Club for several years. Through the years, he enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was trap shooting or barbecuing. He enjoyed watching his kids in all their activities in high school and college. He was instrumental in the building of a new softball and baseball complex for Gehlen Catholic. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a son: Matthew (Ann) Nanninga of Atlanta, GA and their children: Everly Pearl and Maeve; a daughter: Katie (B.J.) Connolly of Clive, IA and their daughter: Sylvie; a son: Nick (Kimberly) Nanninga of Waukee, IA and their son: Miles; a niece: Beth Nanninga of Oklahoma City, OK; and many brothers in law, sisters in law, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother: Doug Nanninga.
