HOLD RITES FOR OSCAR CARLSON
Had Been Resident Of Union County Nearly Fifty Years
There was briefly mentioned in these columns the death of Oscar Carlson at his home in Akron, Wednesday afternoon, January 4, 1950, after a short illness as the result of a stroke, at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 12 days.
Carl Oscar Carlson, son of Carl and Augusta Ring, was born in Sweden on February 23, 1883. He was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church at an early age. In the year, 1901, at the age of 18, he left his home and came to the United States. He was later followed by his parents, two brothers and one sister. He came directly to the middlewest and settled in Union county, South Dakota, where he spent the remainder of his life, except for a two years' residence in Iowa, engaging in farming. On February 12, 1908, he was united in marriage with Lora Squires. To this union was born one son, Roy, who is a resident of Akron.
He is mourned in his passing by his loving wife, Lora; one son, Roy; one brother, one sister, four grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian church, conducted by the pastor, Dean R. Orris. Mrs. Frances Mackey sang. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
