James P. (Jim) Holton, 75, Le Mars, Plymouth County native and lifelong resident, died Saturday (Nov. 23. 1985) at Floyd Valley Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
Funeral was at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Le mars. Rev. george McFadden and Rev. Dale George McFadden and Rev. Dale George concelebrate the funeral mass. Burial was in St. Catherine's Cemetery at Oyens under direction of the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home.
Mr. Holton was born Feb. 25, 1910, at Oyens to William and Mary Barnable Holton. He attended St. Catherine's School in Oyens and graduated from Le Mars High School. He worked and farmed in the Remsen area until 1953 when the family moved to Le Mars and he continued to farm. He married Margaret Barthole, May 19, 1932, at Oyens.
Survivors are his wife of Le Mars; six daughters, Mrs. Philip (Shirley) Huewe of Salem, Ore., Mrs. Donald (La Vonne) Kommes of Le Mars, Sharon Collins of Sunnyvale, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Veverly) Humphrey of Iowa City, Mrs. Steven (Joyce) Crawford of Charles City and Mrs. Mick (Maureen) Carroll of Le mars; three sons, James of Pinckney, Mich., Loren of Detroit and Thomas of Le Mars; 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph of Merrill and Emmett of Cherokee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Freking and Mrs. Madeline Schwarz.
