Eli Andresen Killed In A Tractor Accident Monday

Stark tragedy struck at the James Tracy farm, south of Westfield, on Monday forenoon of this week when Eli Andresen, 34, was accidently killed while working on a tractor at the farm.

Eli was apparently working alone on the tractor and in some manner his arm became entangled in the power take-off, and he was drawn into the machine. It is believed that death was almost instantaneous.

The exact time of the accident is not known, and it was not discovered until Mrs. Andresen called the Tracy home to inquire if Eli had left to go home for lunch. Mr. Tracy did not see Eli about the place and informed Mrs. Andresen that he thought Eli had departed for home. After some time had passed and Eli had still not put in an appearance, Mrs. Andresen again phoned the Tracy's and informed them of the fact. This time Mr. Tracy went out to where the tractor was standing and found the young man had been killed. Chief of Police Clayton Small, of Akron, was summoned in the absence of Ron Schroeder, Akron undertaker, and Eli's body was brought to the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron by Clayton and his father, Avery Small.

Eli Andresen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Andresen, was born at Akron, Iowa, on July 15, 1934. and grew to young manhood in this community. On November 26, 1955, he was united in marriage with Miss Donna Schneider. To this union four children were born, Vickey, Timmy, Lisa and Judy. For a time Eli was employed at the Farmer Co-Operative, in Akron, and recently had been employed at the James Tracy farm, south of Westfield.

Besides his widow, his four children and his parents, he is survived by a sister; Mrs. Gerald (Beverly) Nelson of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Last rites for Mr. Andresen will include a prayer service at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday evening at the Schroeder Funeral Chapel with funeral services scheduled for 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Harris Hostager officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.
