LAST RITES ARE HED FRIDAY FOR MRS. SOPHIA BUEHRE

Had Been Resident Of This Vicinity For More Than Sixty Years

As chronicled last week in these columns, Mrs. Sophie Buehre passed away at her home in this city on Tuesday morning, February 20, 1951, aged 86 years, 3 months, and 26 days. She had been in failing health for some time, due to the infirmities of advanced age.

Sophie Marie Steuber was born October 26, 1864, at Mattison, Will County, Ill., where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In her early days she lived on the farm in that vicinity, and also in Chicago. On February 24, 1888, she was united in marriage with Otto F. Buehre at Mattison, Ill. To this union two sons, Alfred and Herbert were born.

In the spring of 1888, they came to Iowa and farmed east of Akron. AFter living on the home place for theirty-one years, they retired and moved to Akron, where they resided the remainder of their lives.

Her husband passed away on December 20, 1932. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She was the last survivor in her family.

Left to mourn her departure are the two sons, Alfred and Herbert, who live east of Akron; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, as well as ahost of firends that were gained during her long and useful life.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the First Baptist church, conducted by Rev. dan J. Peterson. Music was by a quartet, composed of B. J. Behmer, James Smith, Mrs. Hugh Swift and Mrs. Leland Hope, with Mrs. V. G. Adams as organist. Pallbearers were Charles Jurgensen, Fred Klemme, Russell Clark, Herman Koch, John Milbrodt and ben Hillrichs. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Those present at the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. Herman Rosen, of Perham, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rosen, and Jake Benz, of Welcome, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Steuber and Otto Steuber, of Fairmont, Minn.; H. O. Buehre, Eugene and Clyde Buehre, and Peggy Mills, of Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Susemill, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lemke, of Le Mars.
