Kathleen Kennedy Blanchard
Kathleen Blanchard was born March 5, 1927, to J. C. Kennedy and Marguerite Brown Kennedy in Sioux City. She grew up in Akron and graduated from the Akron High School in 1945. She attended college at Pasadena Junior College, University of South Dakota and graduated with a B S. degree in English - Journalism from South Dakota State University. She taught school al of her working years, first in a country schoo near Volga, S. D. and then in high school in Watertown, S. D.; Fedora, S. D. and reitred from teaching from Howard, S. D. Her reitrement years were spent in Lake Okoboji and in Mesa, Ariz.
She married David F. Blanchard in 1947 and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in 1997.
She is survived by her husban David; son Jeffrey D. and his wife Connie and their children David and Lindsey; and by a daughter Holly J. and her husband Robert Newkirk and children Justin and Katy.
Kathleen loved cards, especially bridge and solitaire, and was an avid readefr. Traveling was high on her list of things to do. After retirement, she taught English as a second language as a volunteer in the Mesa area.
She died Feb. 13, 1998, and her body was cremated and the ashes buried in the cemetery plot in Akron.
