Ralph C. Smith

Ralph C. Smith, 82, Akron, died Saturday (July 2, 1983) in the Akron City Hospital.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Akron. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were David Swanson, Herb Swanson, Max Vreugdenhil, Forrest Williams, Dalas Wilken and Ronnie Dreezen.

Mr. Smith was born March 16, 1901, in Akron. He married Cordelia Mae McGuire July 19, 1927, at Elk Point, S. D. He farmed near Akron his entire life. He was also employed at the ASCS office in Elk point and was a member of the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank.

He had a lifelong interest in the history of northwestern Iowa an dsoutheastern South Dakota.

Suriviros incude his wife; one daughter, Joann Schulz of Vermillion, S.D.; and two grandchildren.
