Wynola G. Kroepel, 78, of Le Mars passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Jean Ziettlow from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Wynola Genevieve Kroepel was born on September 14, 1935 in Lawton, Iowa to Fred Sr. and Fern (Bush) Haring. She started school in Lawton and later graduated from Le Mars High School. After school, Wynola worked at Vander Meer Bakery.
On November 14, 1954, Wynola and Alfred “Fritz” Kroepel were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. In earlier years, Wynola stayed at home and cared for her daughters. When the children were older she worked at Le Mars Fruit and Grocery and Coast to Coast Hardware. Fritz passed away on July 11, 1979. For many years Wynola worked at the American Legion Club. Her last job was in the cafeteria at Floyd Valley Hospital before retiring in 1997.
Wynola was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family and friends and traveling. She was well known for her baking.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Bonnie (Gary) Boltman of Le Mars, Debbie McClelland of Clarion, Iowa, Pam (Kirk) Johnson of Custer, South Dakota and Kristi (Brett) Dreckman of Le Mars; five grandchildren, Ryan and Kaci McClelland, Michael and Daniel Dreckman and Sarah Johnson; one great-grandson, Kayden; a sister, Betty Scheitler of Oyens, Iowa; two brothers, Fred and Gene Haring both of Le Mars; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Fritz.
