HERMAN IDEKER PASSES AWAY
Newspaper dated September 10, 1953Funeral services for Herman Ideker, 80, of Leeds, who died Saturday at his home after an illness of several months was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Calvary Lutheran church in Leeds, with Rev. John G. Deterding officiating. Burial was made in Memorial Park cemetery at Sioux City.
Mr. Ideker was born July 12, 1873, in Guttenberg, Iowa, and came to Plymouth county at the age of 9, the family locating in the community east of Hinton, where he spent the remainder of his life, excepting the last five years which was spent at Leeds.
Mr. Ideker was widely known in this territory. He was respected for his deep interest in public affairs and civic pride in his community. He had a multitude of friends who mourn his passing.
Survivors include the widow, Martha; three sons, Ralph, Roy and Martin, all living within the vicinity of the old home; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Bendorf of Dexter, Minn., Mrs. George E. Lau of Hinton, and Mrs. Armand Lang of Merrill; a brother Freeman Ideker of Leeds; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
