Moville, Iowa -- Christian Richard Boecher, 86, of Moville died Thursday in Correctionville.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Funeral Home with Chifton Cockburn officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Boecher was born May 22, 1912 in Utersen, Germany the son of Adam Willhelm and Sophia Dorthea (Svenson) Boecher. He attended school in the Sioux City area. He was a lifelong resident and farmer of Woodbury and Plymouth counties.
He married Opal Custer on Jan. 4, 1933 in Dakota City, Neb. She died Sept. 15, 1985 in Sioux City.
He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, Milk Producers and Rural Electric Cooperative.
He enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing his harmonica.
Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Hoffman of Ireton, Iowa and Sandra and her husband Alvin Roggatz of Correctionville; one daughter-in-law Shirley Boecher of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard P.; four sisters and one granddaughter, Mary Lee Hoffman.
Pallbearers will be David Call, Ted Feldhacker, Jim Snow, Barry Cornish, Stefan Stark, Byron and Brad Roggatz.
