Final Rites Held Here For 0. Laird Railroad Employe
0. D. Laird, Former Grain Man In Struble, Dies In Minneapolis

Last rites were held Thursday morning from the Mauer funeral home for O. D. Laird, 79, of Minneapolis, a resident at one time for several years at Struble. Services at the graveside were conducted under the auspices of Giblem Lodge, A.F. & A.M. with M. S. Walker acting worshipful master, giving the address.

Mr. Laird was employed by the Milwaukee railroad for many years after leaving Struble, where he was connected in the early days with his father, David Laird, in conducting a grain elevator.

Mr. Laird was born at Freeport, Ill., October 20, 1858, and when a young man came to Iowa. Of late years he lived at Durand, Ill., and in Minneapolis. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, T. H. Erickson of Seattle, Wash., and a son, Charles Laird, who is chief clerk in the Milwaukee railroad offices in Minneapolis. The relatives, with a niece, Mrs. Verna Highwood of Chesterton, Ind., were here to attend the last rites.

David Laird, who died in 1910, his wife, and a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Van Dyke, are buried in the city cemetery and the remains of Mr. Laird were interred beside them.
