Mrs. Phillip MacKay, 92, rural Remsen, died Saturday (May 30, 1970) at a Sioux City hospital. She had lived most of her life in Plymouth county north of Kingsley and the time of her death was making her home with her son Donald.

The former Arba Stauffer, she was born Feb. 10, 1878, in Illinois. Her parents were John and Sarah Pollis Stauffer. [sic-alternate spelling of Sarah's maiden name is Paulus]

Her marriage to John Milton took place Feb, 21, 1898, at Union township Presbyterian church. He died a short time later.

Phillip MacKay and Arba Milton were married April 2, 1918, in Le Mars. He preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Dickison-Michaelson funeral home at Kingsley. Burial will be in the Union township cemetery. Officiating will be Merrill Bean of Jehovah's Witness church, Sioux City. Mrs. MacKay was a member of that church.

Survivors are the son Donald; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Opal) Johnson, Remsen, and Mrs. Walter (Phyllis) Meister, Kingsley; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, four sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Arba Mackay Services Hold Tuesday, June 2nd

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 2, 1970, ata2:00 p.m. from the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home for Mrs. Arba Mackay of Kingsley area who passed away at St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City on Saturday, May 30th, at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 20 days.

Mr. Merrill Bean of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Church of Sioux City officiated at the services and Mrs. Bean was pianist. Casket bearers were Messrs, Garry Sand, Eugene Morton, Roscoe Baker, Marvin Hall, Vannce Harnack and Robert Drey. Interment was in Union Cemetery near Remsen.

Mrs. Mackay, the daughter of John and Sarah (Paulus) Stauffer, was born in Illinois on February 10, 1878. She moved with her family to Iowa as a little girl.

On February 21, 1898, she was united in marriage to John Milton. Following his death, she later married Phillip Mackay on April 2, 1918, at LeMars. They lived and farmed north of Kingsley for several years. She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Church at Sioux City.

Survivors include 1 son, Donald Mackay, of Remsen, and 2 daughters; Phyllis (Mrs. Walter Meistere) of Kingsley; and Opal, (Mrs. Leonard Johnson) of Remsen; 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
