Mrs. John Hawkins died March 9, 1905, at her home in Harrisonville, Missouri, and the remains were brought to Le Mars arriving Saturday accompanied by Mr. Hawkins. Relatives from Union township met the train and followed the hearse to Union township cemetery where the body was interred by the side of her children who died in infancy. Mrs. Hawkins was born June 20, 1848, in Dubuque county, Iowa, and lived with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Croston until her marriage to Mr. Hawkins, January 8, 1870. They moved to Plymouth county in the spring of 1879 and lived in Henry township until 1897, when they all went to make their home near Harrisonville, Missouri. Besides her husband Mrs. Hawkins leaves two children, Mrs. W. H. Hall and Willie Hawkins, both living near their father. A number of friends gathered at the home of Mr. Manning near Union cemetery Saturday and attended the services conducted by Rev. W. A. Richards of Mt. Hope when the body was consigned to the grave. Mr. Hawkins who will be remembered as ex-county supervisor of this county remained a few days to visit his wife's sister Mrs. Wm. McCartney and other relatives.
