Rena M. Lyons, 75, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars. Reverend Ken Vanderploeg will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.

Rena Mae DeJong was born May 10, 1939 in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Sam and Etta (DeJager) DeJong. She grew up in Orange City and attended the Christian School in Orange City and later graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa.

Rena was united in marriage to Glenn S. Lyons on May 10, 1960 in Orange City. They lived most of their married life in NW Iowa until finally settling in Le Mars.

Rena followed in her father's footsteps and sold specialty advertising for over 39 years for Newton Manufacturing Company in Newton, Iowa.

Rena was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars where she enjoyed attending afternoon bible study. Through the years, she enjoyed shopping, reading, and spending time with her family. Rena's greatest desire was that her children follow the Lord. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn of Le Mars; their sons: James (Kathleen) Lyons of Ankeny, IA, and their children: Kelsey and Ben; Robert (Jean) Lyons of Lawrenceville, GA, and their children: Sam and Jonah; Donald (Katy) Lyons of Dacula, GA, and their daughter: Emily; and David Lyons of Raleigh, NC, and his significant other, Stephanie Weschke; two sisters: Trudy (Jay) DeVries of Lawrenceville, GA, and Sandra (Bill) VanHorssen of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister in law: Geraldine DeJong of Orange City, IA; a very special cousin: Marvella Landman of Doon, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Etta DeJong; her father and mother in law: Homer and Ruth Lyons; her brother: Martin DeJong; and her grandson: Jacob Lyons.
