DIES AS RESULT AUTO SKIDDING
SEVERE INJURIES TAKE FATAL TURN
AKRON MAN IS FATALLY INJURED WHEN HIT BY A SIOUX CITY CAR
Injuries suffered by C.H. Yegge of Akron at Sioux City when struck by a skidding automobile Thursday afternoon [2/1/1923], proved fatal early Friday morning [2/2/1923] at St. Vincent's hospital. The injured man was found to have been suffering from an injured back, a crushed chest and a punctured lung.
Yegge was crossing Myrtle street at Sioux City when a car driven by P.R. Gale, 2001 Jones street, turned the corner from Twentieth street. Gale saw the pedestrian and attempted to stop his car, but owing to the slippery condition of the ice coated pavement the car skidded and crashed into Yegge, throwing him several feet.
The man was unconscious when picked up, but regained consciousness while being taken to the police station. Police Surgeon Dr. S.D. Carney was called to the station to attend the man's injuries, but after administering first aid ordered Yegge taken to the hospital.
The body is being held at the Westcott undertaking parlors pending the funeral arrangements.
