John Baack
Following a sickness of two years duration John W. Baack of Worthing, South Dakota passed away at a Sioux Valley Hospital, Canton, on Monday, July 29. where he had been a patient for one day. He attained the age of 85 years, three months and two days.
Born in Osifriesland, Germany, April 27, John Baack came to the U. S. with his parents at an early age and the family settled in Merrill, Iowa. On July 2, 1907 he was married at Montrose, S. Dak. For a number of years he farmed in Canistota and Salem vicinity, and in 1928 the family moved to Lennox residing there nine years and the past 20 years have lived in Worthing.
On June 30 Mr. and Mrs. Baack held open house in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include his widow, six children, (Mabel) Mrs. Carl Black. (Christine) Mrs. Ben VanLoh, Worthing, (Louise) Mrs. John Kerchmann, (Esther) Mrs. Herb Newberg, Lennox, (Esie) Mrs. Elmer Ysbrand. Sioux Falls and Ben Baack. Gashland, Mo.. 20 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Thursday from the Dindot funeral home at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Art Brust, pastor of the Worthing Congregational church in charge. Burial was in Lennox cemetery.
Those attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pageler of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baack and Wallace Baack of Hinton, John Baack, was an uncle of Louis and Wallace Baack and Mrs. Herman Pageler.
