MRS. GEO. WAKEMAN EARLY DAY NATIVE OF THIS COUNTY

Died In Omaha Hospital At Age of 76 Years; Funeral Here Friday

Briref mention was made in these columns last week of th death of Mrs. Geo. Wakeman in the Methodist Hospital at Omaha, Nebr., where she had been a patient for a week, on December 7, 1948, at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

Dora Larkin was born in Plymouth county, Iowa, July 4, 1872, and grew to womanhood here. On November 3, 1888, she was united in marriage with George Wakeman. To this union nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Wakeman farmed north of Akron for many years. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1941.

Left to mourn her departure are two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Johnson, of Harold, S. D., and Mrs. Edith Crammond, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Walter, of Vancouver, Wash., and Millard, Glenn, and Gilber, of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Della Madden (a twin) and Mrs. Louise Wynn, both of Sioux City; one brother, Lake Larkin, of Woodburn, Ore; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wakeman was a life-long member of the Methodist church, and at the time of her death her membership was in the Methodist church at Hinton, Iowa. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother. The memory of her useful life and pleasant personality will be cher ished by all who knew her. All of her children were privileged to be present during the closing days of her life.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Akron methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Orville N. Nelson. A male quartet, comprised of Karl Silkebakken, J. R. Shoulberg, Clifford Johnson and Harry B. Nelson, sang. The pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Interment was in the cemetery at Merrill, Iowa.
