Death claims Charles Epling, 60, prominent farmer of Lincoln township, at the Sacred Heart hospital in this city, Tuesday, July 20, following a brief illness from an internal malady.

Mr. Epling was known as an industrious and hardworking farmer and stockman. He was a resident of this county all his life. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, November 5, 1876. Shortly after his birth his parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Epling came to Plymouth County and on their arrival took up land in Stanton Twp. Mr. Epling lived in Stanton and Lincoln townships and followed the pursuit of farming after obtaining an education in the rural schools. While at school he assisted in the farm work at home and gained practical knowledge of which he availed himself on engaging in farming on his own account.

Mr. Epling was united in marriage with Miss Bertha Riediger, of Lincoln township, and two children were born to them. He is survived by his wife, a son, Arthur Epling of Lincoln township, and a daughter, Mrs. Clara Beaulieu of Storm Lanke, and two granchildren. He also leaves four brothers and three sisters: Edward, Adolph and William of Stanton township; Albert Epling of Sioux City; Mrs. Gus Schultz, of Stanton township; Mrs. John Peterson, of Lincoln township; and Mrs. Roy Heiden of Liberty township.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the residence in Lincoln township, with services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Rev E.R. Baird officiating, and interment made in Graceland Park
