Mrs. Bellwood, the former Maude Edna Steward, was born Jan. 1, 1897, in Deepwater, Mo. She married Dalton Bellwood, Dec. 30, 1914, at Le Mars. The couple farmed in the Akron area for many years, retiring in 1961, and moving to Akron. Mr. Bellwood died Dec.15, 1963, in Akron.
Mrs. Bellwood was baptized in the First Baptist church in Akron as a young woman, and attended services as long as she was able. She was one of the oldest living members of the church. She also was an active member of the Akron Senior Citizen group.
She was best known to many Akron residents as a nurse at the Akron hospital, who was always there to lend a helping hand to everyone, even when it was difficult at times to care for herself. She was a loving and helpful mother and grandmother, who lived for her family all her life. She leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, and many loving memories that will always be cherished.
Survivors include two sons, Lester of Evergreen, Colo., and Lowell of Akron; two daughters, Mrs. Matthew (Lucille) Gale and Mrs. Jack (Irene) Smith of Akron; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and on great-grandchild.
