MRS. SPIECKER DIES. Was Well Known Resident of Remsen Vicinity Many Years.
Remsen Bell-Enterprise: Funeral services for Mrs. Wilhelmina Spiecker, an old resident of this community, were held Wednesday afternoon from Christ Lutheran church. Mrs. Spiecker passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Connor, in Moville, Monday at the age of 81 years. Her death was due to hardening of the arteries. Surviving are nine children.
Mrs. Spiecker, who had made her home with her son, Frank, in Sioux City in recent years, was in failing health for a long time, but up to six weeks ago was able to be up and about. After a week’s illness she spent another week in a Sioux City hospital, and then went to Moville where she remained under the care of her daughter until her death Monday.
Wilhelmina Spiecker, nee Bohnenborg, was born in Woerhden, Holstein, Germany, December 8, 1851, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bohnenberg, and was united in marriage in her native home, to Christian Spiecker, in 1872. The couple came to this country in 1892 and for many years farmed in Plymouth and Cherokee counties. Mr. Spiecker died in 1920 and after spending one year in this vicinity Mrs. Spiecker went to Sioux City to live with her son, Frank.
The deceased was the mother of fourteen children, nine of whom survive her, as follows: John Spiecker and Mrs. Anna Kohlmeier, Storden, Minn.; Mrs. Mary Ramaden, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Lena Tueck, Canyon, Texas; Mrs. Margaret Connor, Moville, Iowa; Mrs. Elsie Kroll, Cushing, Iowa; Frank Spiecker, Sioux City, and Peter and Fred Spiecker. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, November 29, 1932, page 3.

Mrs. Spiecker was a true Christian woman and had a host of warm friends in this vicinity and in Cherokee county, who regret to learn of her departure. She was a lovable woman and one who enjoyed the confidence and sincere esteem of everyone with whom she came in contact. The many friends of the family extend sympathy over their great loss.
The body was brought to Remsen Tuesday, and funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church at 2 o’clock. Burial was made in the Remsen cemetery. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, November 2, 1932, page 1, column 5.
