James Perry Schultz, 84, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista.

He was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Stanton Township, Rural Merrill, to George B. and Bessie Robbins Schultz.

He graduated from Central High School in Le Mars, in 1946 and entered the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1949. On July 7, 1948, he married Ardythe Kloster in Oyens.

He graduated from Iowa State University in 1953 and taught high school vocational agriculture from 1953-1958. He then worked as territorial manager for Cargill/Nutrena for 25-plus years, earning recognition as a member of the president's club five times.

He lived in Le Mars; Paragould, Ark.; Warrenton, Mo.; and New Hampton, Iowa, before retiring and moving to Bella Vista in 1990.

He was an avid gardener, card player and golfer with two career holes in one. He also loved pheasant hunting, fishing trips to Canada, playing and coaching softball.

His family was his greatest source of joy.

He was a member of United Lutheran Church, where he operated the soundboard for services. He also drove the Bella Vista courtesy van for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Ardythe, of the home; one daughter, Karen Rozeboom and husband Victor, of Springdale, Ark.; two sons, Douglas Schultz and wife Julie, of Le Mars, and Dean Schultz and wife Diana, of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Lester Schultz, of Laurens; one sister, Juanita Posey and husband Everett, of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy Schultz; and one sister, Goldie Denniston.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road in Bella Vista. Burial will be at a later date in Le Mars.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista.
