Mrs. John Sheehan Claimed By Death
Resident Here For Sixty-one Years
Mrs. Johanna Sheehan, 85, a resident of Plymouth county for sixty-one years, died January 4, at her home 504 First Avenue S. W. She had been suffering with a heart ailment complicated by infirmities of age the past four weeks.
Johanna Fahey, a daughter of Martin and Ellen Fahey, was born at Bangor, Maine, November 11, 1858. She moved to Peru, Ill., when a young girl, where she grew up and was married to John Sheehan, January 20, 1883. Following their marriage they came to Le Mars and settled on a farm in Marion township where they farmed successfully for many years. They moved to Le Mars thirty-one years ago to make their home.
Mr. Sheehan passed away twenty-six years ago.
Mrs. Sheehan was a member of St. James Catholic church, the ladies aid society and the Third Order of St. Francis.
She is survived by three daughters and five sons: Mrs. P. P. Watry of Adrian, Minn., Mrs. Jos. Considine, and Mrs. Ray Manning of Le Mars, John Sheehan of Sioux City, George, James, Joseph and Thomas Sheehan of Le Mars. There are twenty-one grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren.
One daughter, Mary Davis, preceded her in death seven years ago.
She also leaves four sisters, Mrs. J. O’Neill of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Houlihan of Chicago. Mrs. Leahy, Emily Fahey, and one brother, John Fahey, all of Peru, Ill.
The funeral will be held this Friday mourning at 9 o’clock in St. James church with Rev. B.Bauer officiating and interment will be in St. James cemetery. Six grandsons will be pallbearers.
The arrangements are in charge of the Wiltgen Funeral Home.
