Death of Mrs. Alonzo D. Lilly
Died at her home near Westfield, Iowa, Sunday morning, December 23, 1900, after an illness of a few hours. Mrs. Alonzo D. Lilly, aged thirty years, one month and our days.
Mary May Robinson was born near Madison, Morgan county, Georgia, November 19, 1870, and was the second daughter of the late Eugene H. Robinson. In 1876 she came to Iowa with her parents and some years later removed from Stanton township to Westfield, where she married Alonzo D. Lilly, February 10, 1895. They settled on a farm in that vicinity where they continued to reside until death took from the home the devoted wife and mother.
She leaves a husband and four small children, the youngest an infant, a mother, two brothers and four sisters, to mourn her untimely death.
The funeral was held at the Congregational church at Westfield at 10:30 o’clock a.m. Wednesday, December 26, and was largely attended. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Golbert, of Morningside, pastor of the M. E. church at Millnerville, assisted by Rev. Tichnor, pastor of the congregational church at Westfield. The interment was made in the Akron cemetery.
From our midst has gone a faithful, loving wife and mother, an affectionate wife and mother, an affectionate daughter and sister”and a kind and sympathetic friend and neighbor.
The vacancy that has been made by her early death will be felt by many, but we trust she was prepared for the final summons, and is now sweetly resting with her Savior, freed forever from earthly cares and sorrow.
“Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep From which none ever wakes to weep.”
