VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA. Mrs. Chris. F. Wiebke Passed Away at her Home Last Friday. Funeral Was Held Here Last Saturday.
Pneumonia, following an attack of Spanish influenza, caused the death of another well known Remsen young woman, Mrs. Christopher F. Wiebke, who passed away at her home in Marion township, five miles southwest of Remsen, on Friday, November 22, after an illness of but ten days. Mrs. Wiebke was twenty-seven years of age and is survived by her husband, her father, Henry Mohning, three brothers and a sister. The funeral was held in Remsen Saturday.
Mrs. Wiebke took sick with influenza on November 11th, and a week later she contracted pneumonia, which resulted in her early death. Last Wednesday it became apparent that her condition was hopeless and her relatives were summoned to her bedside. In spite of the best of care she gradually became worse and she passed away at one o’clock last Friday morning.
Anna Sophia Wiebke, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mohning, was born on May 26, 1891, in Marion township, and spent her entire life in this community. She became the wife of C. F. Wiebke on January 10th, 1917, and the young couple resided for one year on a farm four miles south of Remsen. During the past year they assisted her brother, Will Mohning, on his farm five miles south west of town where they resided until the death of the young wife. Mrs. Wiebke was a staunch member of St. Paul’s church of Remsen, being a regular and faithful attendant of services and for years she was a member of the choir and the Bible class.
Besides her faithful and sorrowing husband Mrs. Wiebke is survived by her father, three brothers and one sister. They are Herman, William, Louis and Miss Marie Mohning.
Mrs. Wiebke was a faithful and loving wife and daughter, and a true friend to her many acquaintance. Her death is a severe shock to the bereaved family and to her many friends, and the community extends sincere sympathy to the family.
The funeral services were held last Saturday, Rev. E. H. Eilers, of St. Paul’s church, officiating. Services were conducted at the home at two o’clock and at the church at three o’clock. Interment was in the Remsen cemetery.
