Lucian N, Cornish, 73, of Ireton died Sunday (Dec. 9, 1984) in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran church, rural Akron. The Rev. Robert Kruempel officiated. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran church cemetery, under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. A prayer service was held Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

Pallbearers were: Barry Cornish, Bruce Cornish, Greg Cornish, Arlan Heeren, Robert Borchers, Jack Borchers, and Mark Borchers.

Mr. Cornish was born March 9, 1911, at Beresford, S.D. to Arthur and Tena Nanninga Cornish. He married Irene Borchers Aug. 29, 1931, at rural Akron. He was a lifelong farmer, before retiring in 1973.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don of Ireton and Darrell of McFarland, Wise.; one sister, Mrs. Bartley Ogden of Odebolt; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Curtis.
