HERMAN D. WEYEN, LIFELONG COUNTY RESIDENT DIES
Herman D. Weyen, 65, of route 4, Le Mars, lifelong resident of Grant and Preston townships, died unexpectedly Sunday at his farm home near Craig. He had operated the the same farm the last 42 years in Preston township.
Mr. Weyen was born May 4, 1897, in Grant township near Le Mars, the son of John and Martha Eltges Weyen. His marriage to Anna M. Fisher took place Jan. 8, 1920, on a farm near Brunsville.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran church in Grant township.
Surviving are the widow, Anna; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Deloris) Alvers of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Glenn (Donna Mae) Haage of rural Akron; six grandchildren, Dick, Myra, Lori, Donna and Cindy Alvers and DeAnn Haage, and three sisters, Mrs. Martin Johnson of Craig, Mrs. Albert Coleman of Le Mars and Mrs. Robert Baker of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran church, Grant township, with Rev. Dennis Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Mauer's funeral home.
