FORMER ADAVILLE WOMAN SUMMONED
Burial Rites For Mrs. Nellie Lias Held At Le Mars Last Thursday
Mrs. Nellie B. Lias, of Le Mars, a former well known resident of Adaville vicinity for many years, passed away at the Zimmerman Home in Le Mars, Tuesday, November 29, 1938, after a lingering illness. She had been in failing health for a year past and recently went to Humboldt S. D., to be with her sons. Returning to Le Mars she entered the Sacred Heart hospital for treatment. Death was ascribed to cancer.
Nellie B. Laycott, daughter of Hodson and Sarah Squire Laycott, was born August 12, 1866, at Chesterville, Ohio, where she.was reared and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with Edwin Lias at Mount Vernon, Ohio, in 1893. Soon after their marriage they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Plymouth county, near Adaville, where they lived many years and then lived on a farm near Craig for seven years. Of recent years she lived in Le Mars.
She is survived by two sons, Emery B. Lias and Will D. Lias, of Humboldt, S. D., and five grandchildren.
Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lias was well known in Plymouth county and was highly esteemed in a large circle of acquaintance.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, last week, at the Luken funeral home in Le Mars, with Rev. W. M. Hubbard pastor of the M. E. church there, officiating.
Interment was in the Le Mars city cemetery.
