Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, June 18, for Eugene H. Lias, age 77 at the United Methodist Church, Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial and Masonic graveside services were in Riverside cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. Prayer service was Tuesday evening, June 17, Mr. Lias passed away Sunday, June 15, at the Akron hospital.

Eugene H. Lias was born May 12, 1892 at Akron, Iowa. On October 4, 1916, he married Florence Rhodes. Mr. Lias farmed in the Akron area until 1957 when he retired and moved to Akron. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; Freedom Lodge 434 AF and AM, Sioux City Consistory, honorary degree of Knight Commander in Court of Honor Vesper Chapter of Eastern Star.

Survivors are his widow; three sons Harvey, Robert and David, all of Akron; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Bauch of Jefferson City, Mo. and Mrs. Ruth Lowery of South Sioux City.

Honorary pall bearers were: Vince Adams, Sieben Siebens, Walter Searls, Wm. Mitchell, Porter Maynard, Herman Kock, Ambrose Feauto, Victor Anderson, and Gerd VonHagel.

Active pall bearers were: Gaynor Harris, Lee Harris, Will Kamrath, Henry Krause, Gerald Krause, and Wendell Borchers.
