Mrs. Eugene (Florence) Lias

Mrs. Eugene Lias, 86, of Akron died Sunday (June 12, 1983) in the Akron nursing home after a long illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Wesley United Methodist church in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery under the direction of Schroeder funeral home of Akron. A prayer service was held Monday evening in the funeral home.

Active pallbearers were Hank Krause, Ed Searls, Dennis Port, Gaynor Harris, Laren Jordahl and Roger Patterson. Honorary pallbearers were Porter Maynard, Ford Hansen, Walt Searls, Art Hasenbank, Gerald Krause and Bill Mitchell.

Mrs. Lias, the former Florence Bernice Rhodes, was born Oct. 25, 1896; at Haddom, Kan. She married Eugene Lias Oct. 4, 1916, at Le. Mars. They farmed in the Akron area until 1957 when they retired to Akron. He died June 14, 1969. She was a member of the Akron Garden club, the Embroidery club, and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist church in Akron.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Lorraine) Bauch of Delavan, Wise, and Ruth Lowery of Akron; three sons, Harvey, Robert and David, all of Akron; one sister, Mrs. Lila Kirk of Racine, Wise.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; one brother, Ralph Rhodes; and one sister, Marion Husman.
