Funeral service for Mrs. Myrtle M. Bradley, 79, who died in a hospital Monday after a long sickness. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Union Creek Lutheran church west of Akron. Rev. Chester Guinn officiated and burial was in Riverside cemetery at Akron under direction of the Rossow funeral home.

Mrs. Bradley was born November 8, 1880, at Half Rock, Mo. She was married to H. E. Bradley in Akron August 2, 1902. He died in November of 1957.

Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Harmon Boyd of Elk Point, S. D., Mrs. Ruby Davis, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Harlan and Kervyn, both of Casper, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

DEATH SUMMONS A PIONEER OF THIS COMMUNITY

Rites Held Thursday Of Last Week For Mrs. Myrtle Bradley

Mrs. Myrtie Bradley, 79, lifelong resident of Akron vicinity, died Monday evening, July 25, in the Akron Hospital, where she had been confined for some length of time.

Mrs. Bradley was born November 8, 1880, at Half Rock, Missouri, the eldest daughter of Reuben and Sarah Pollock; and at an early age she moved with her parents to Plymouth county, Iowa. She taught school in Portland township Plymouth county, in the late 1890's, until her marriage to H. E. Bradley, August 6, 1902, in Akron. Mr. Bradley preceded her in death November 10, 1957. To this union six children were born. A son, Philip, and a daughter, Elaine, died in infancy.

"Myrtie," as she was affectionately known by her many friends, entered the Akron Hospital April 29, 1966, where she remained until her death. The Bradleys moved to Ravinia, Charles Mix county, S. D., in 1906 and farmed there until 1914, when they returned to Plymouth county. Here they rented a farm and operated it until 1919, at which time they moved onto a farm which they purchased in Sioux Valley township, Union county, northwest of Akron. The family lived together on this farm until each of the children left to make homes of their own. In November, 1953, she and her husband became members of Union Creek Lutheran church through adult baptism and continued in this affiliation since that time.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harmon (Muriel) Boyd, of Elk Point, and Mrs. Ruby Davis, of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Harlan and Kervyn, both of Casper, Wyo.; one sister, Mrs. Orpha Murphey, Of Lennox, S. D.; two brothers, Max Pollock of Sioux City, and Russell Pollock of Riverton, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Union Creek Lutheran Church, Rev. Chester L. Guinn, pastor of Wesley Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Lee Stoutenburg and Mrs. and Mrs. Victor Clark were vocalists. Mrs. Henry Fickbohm was organist. Casket bearers were Calvin Charlton, Dick Hoogestraat, Robert Root, Eldon Seely, Alvin Sommervold and Norris Winquist. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
